Picton Manufacturing, in conjunction with another engineering firm, carries out the majority of the maintenance work on all of the ferries working between Picton and Wellington. The work carried out on the ferries is diverse, and includes:

Our team are regularly called upon to repair logging equipment, on site, in the Marlborough region. Our clients in the forestry industry also rely on us for their machine maintenance. The work we do includes but is not limited to:

• Building and fitting heavy duty protection frames and ROP units on new equipment and machines before they are used on the worksite
• Welding and maintenance on waratahs, haulers, skidders, diggers and excavator grapples
• Fabrication of pins and bushes
• Digger bucket reskinning
• Repairing logging equipment at Picton Port

We have the capacity to build barges, work platforms and service vehicles in aluminium or steel.

The vessel shown in the photos above is near completion. It has been constructed from computer cut components lifted straight from the plans, resulting in a fast and accurate build. This outboard powered catamaran has been built to service marine farms in the Marlborough sounds. It is equipped with a deck crane which is able to handle various modules onto the deck forward of the wheelhouse.

We are also able to accommodate other jobs which vary greatly from this one. Our team can modify older boats made of timber or fibreglass. We can fit new machinery or devices required for our customers.
